I HATE 4:30am

What’s my fitness story?  Well, my husband and I were both in the military and the bi-annual Physical Training Test (PT) was mandatory.  So when you are 20 it’s pretty easy to prepare for the PT test or even pretend like you are in shape.  My husband and I would hit the gym for 6-8 weeks at a time, get into shape, and then fall back into the same ol’ crappy eating habits and skipping the daily trip to the gym.  Easy enough – never had an issue “getting back into shape” in our 20s.  Then 30-something came along……it was increasingly harder to recover from not going to the gym and eating crap.  We realized as we got closer to our 40s that regular exercise was important (but not getting up at 4:30am important! for me anyway). IMG_0927

My husband found P90X shortly after it was released and he LOVED it. It was something he could do even with an intense business travel schedule.  He LOVED getting up at 4:30am and doing the workouts.  I tried….once or twice….I didn’t enjoy any part of it!  Not the getting up at 4:30am, not the 1-hour workouts, and I REALLY didn’t like that Tony guy!

About 3 years ago I found a love for riding my bike.  We live near Galveston, TX so the weather here is pretty nice 10 months out of the year.  I loved my bike, I loved my music, and I LOVED my alone time!  I got into pretty good shape and lost about 25 lbs.  Although happy with those results I was looking for something new, something that would help with upper body strength (and I was having some hip/IT band issues).  I tried a few DVD programs in our home gym, nothing really stuck until I found a workout program from Jillian – You know the Biggest Loser Jillian!

This program was 30 minute workouts 6 days a week that included agility, strength training, and balance – I was hooked!  I did this program a couple of times before my husband talked me into P90X3.  I am two weeks away from finishing a 90 day program!!

A 90 Day PROGRAM!  This is huge for me!  I’ve done 30 days, I’ve done 60 days, but I’ve never finished a 90 day program!  I can say I still hate 4:30am, but I will get up that early if it means getting my workout in!
